Missile Frigate "John Amos Comenius"
Third (serial) ship
in a series of Type Kafka guided missile frigates. Laid on the Trinec Shipyard
September 18, 2002, launched on July 16, 2003, commissioned June 30, 2004.
This ship was named after the famous Czech writer. John Amos Comenius (15921670)
was a Czech teacher, educator and writer. He served as the last bishop of Unity
of the Brethren and became a religious refugee and one of the earliest champions
of universal education, a concept eventually set forth in his book Didactica Magna.
He is considered the father of modern education. Ship hull number - FFG-03. Currently
ship is in the 2nd Tactical Group of the surface ships "Plesne" of the
Czech Central Fleet.
