The Type Kafka class of guided-missile frigates is a low-cost diesel-powered anti-submarine platform with secondary anti-aircraft and anti-ship capability. They form the core of the Czech Navy's destroyer and frigate fleet and serve alongside the Type Vltava destroyers.

Frigates have been named in honor of the famous writers of the Czech Republic.
